01 Scope
This policy applies to the extension named SnapVideoTools Ext distributed through the Chrome Web Store. It does not apply to the SnapVideoTools website, mobile applications, or separately distributed extension builds, which may have different features and disclosures. Visiting this page or another part of the website is also subject to the website's Privacy Policy.
SnapVideoTools Ext detects media made available by the page you are viewing and lets you choose compatible formats or qualities for download. It does not bypass digital rights management (DRM), authentication, payment, membership, geographic, or other access restrictions. In the Chrome Web Store build, YouTube content can be detected but cannot be downloaded.
02 Data processed locally
To provide its features, the extension may process the following information inside your browser:
- The active tab URL and title.
- Page structure, media elements, and metadata about media resources already loaded by the page.
- Detected media URLs, formats, qualities, pixel dimensions, estimated or reported file sizes, thumbnails, and source site information.
- Extension settings, detected-media cache, download queue, task progress, and download history.
- Request information needed to access media from its source, such as the source page URL and headers required by that website.
This processing is used to display available media choices, start downloads, assemble supported HLS or DASH streams, combine compatible audio and video tracks locally, restore tasks, and show history.
03 When data leaves the browser
The extension sends or exposes information outside its own local storage only in these situations:
- Source websites and media CDNs. When detection or a download requires a network request, your browser connects directly to the website or media CDN that hosts the resource. Those services receive normal request information such as your IP address, request headers, and requested URL, subject to their own privacy policies.
- Feedback. If you click the extension's Feedback action, it opens the SnapVideoTools contact page with the current page URL and your browser user-agent in the query string. Clicking that action transmits those two values to the website, and they may appear in ordinary hosting, security, CDN, analytics, or server access logs. If you submit the contact form, the current page URL and browser user-agent accompany your message and contact details to our configured support notification provider. The form's message and contact details are transmitted only if you choose to submit it.
- Browser and operating-system services. Chrome and your operating system process downloads, file locations, and notifications according to your browser and device settings.
SnapVideoTools does not receive page URLs or detected media for remote parsing, and the extension does not fall back to a third-party media parsing service.
04 Data we do not collect or use
- The extension does not require a SnapVideoTools account and does not collect account passwords.
- It does not include advertising or analytics trackers in extension pages.
- It does not sell personal information or detected browsing and media data.
- It does not use extension data for advertising, credit, lending, or insurance decisions.
- It does not send your local settings, queue, detected-media cache, or download history to SnapVideoTools servers.
05 Permissions and purposes
SnapVideoTools Ext requests only the Chrome permissions used by its declared features.

The <all_urls> permission allows the generic content script to inspect page media and
allows the background process to observe media-response metadata across domains. Site-specific
automatic detection is limited to supported public sites. On domains excluded from automatic detection
by the Chrome Web Store build, generic current-page detection starts only when you open or use the
extension. Data processed through this access is not sent to SnapVideoTools unless the Feedback case
described above applies.
06 Storage, retention, and deletion
- Settings, queue state, and download history remain in extension-local storage until you clear them or uninstall the extension.
- Detected-media cache is temporary and is replaced or cleared as pages, tabs, or browser sessions change.
- Downloaded files remain in the location you selected until you delete them.
- Feedback submissions and related operational logs are retained only as reasonably necessary to answer requests, protect the service, and meet legal obligations.
08 Your choices and rights
- You can clear download history and other stored data through the extension's controls or Chrome's extension settings.
- You can disable notifications in Chrome, remove site access, or uninstall the extension at any time.
- You can delete downloaded files with your operating system's file tools.
- You can avoid transmitting support context by not using the Feedback action.
- You can contact us to ask about, correct, or delete information you submitted through support, subject to applicable law.
09 Security
We limit extension processing to the data needed for its features and keep queue, history, settings, and media detection data in extension-local storage. No method of storage or network transmission is completely secure, but we use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the information processed.
10 Children
SnapVideoTools Ext is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the extension. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through support, please contact us so we can review and delete it.
11 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when extension features, permissions, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will identify the current version. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate extension, store listing, or website notice when required.
